Steps to International Admission at Brazosport College:
 
 
New International Admission:
 
 
If you live outside the U.S. and you would like to attend Brazosport College, here are some helpful steps to start your journey.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Admissions Office at 979-230-3020.
 
Step 1
Apply to Brazosport College using the Apply to BC Link on the BC homepage (www.brazosport.edu). Or by going to www.applytexas.org.  Application for International Students deadlines are:
Fall Sememster: June 1
Spring Semester: October 1
 
Step 2
Send official transcripts from your high school or any colleges or universities you have attended (either in the U.S. or abroad).  Transcripts that are from abroad schools will need to be evaluated by an accepted evaluation company.
 
We will also need a copy of your passport.
 
Step 3
Brazosport College classes are taught in English, proficiency test is required for students whose first language is not English.  A score of 500 or higher on the test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Education Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey: http://www.ets.org/toefl.

 

Official Test scores must be sent to Brazosport College directly from ETS.  Brazosport College (DI Code: 6054)

Step 4

We will need your Sponsor's Affidavit for Internation Applicants which indicates the sponsor will provide full financial support during the students stay in the United States.  Bank statements of sponsor must show $15,000 U.S. Dollars in addition to the $3,000 deposit.  This is to be completed by the person who will be providing the money for tuition, fees, and living expenses.  This information must be submitted with and orginal bank statement or Tax return attached.

Please note if you are sponsoring yourself you will need to provide a letter from your bank showing the needed amount on deposit under your name.  ALL FINANCIAL SUPPORT PAPERS MUST BE IN ENGLISH, SHOWING THE AMOUNT IN U.S. DOLLARS, OR HAVE A CERTIFIED TRANSLATION OF SUCH.

Step 5

Apply for your I-20 in order to apply for your F-1 Student Visa at the U.S. Embassy.

Step 6

Take your official I-20 to the American Embassy in your home country to apply for F-1 Student Visa.  This allows you to come to the United States and attend Brazosport College. 

Step 7

Mail your documents to Brazosport College:

Step 8

Once we receive all of your documents, a designated school official for International Students will send your I-20 in the mail.  Your SEVIS ID  number will appear in the upper right corner of the form, and our school code will be at the bottom of box 2.

Step 9

Take your official I-20 to the American Embassy in your home country to apply for your F-1 Visa.  This allows you to come to the United States and enroll at Brazosport College. 

VISA APPLICATION PROCESS CHECKLIST:

Properly completed SEVIS Form I-20

Proof of having paid the SEVIS fee see http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/index.htm.

Valid Passport

Letter of admission from the school

Evidence of financial ability to meet expenses

Evidence of English ability sufficient for course study

Evidence of intent to depart the U.S. after completion of studies

Passport valid for at least six months

Machine Readable Visa (MRV) surcharge fee

Visa reciprocity fee (if applicable)

For students at public secondary schools only proof that the student has reimbursed the school district for the cost of education.

 

Step 10

A $200 fee covers the cost to issue and maintain your F-1 Student Visa.  The payment must be accompanied by Form I-901, and there are three ways you can submit it:

On the Internet:  This is the fastest and easiest method.  You can fill out Form I-901 online and pay the fee by credit or debit card. Be sure to print out your receipt.

By mail: You can send a paper Form I-901 along with an international money order or check from a U.S. bank, payable to: I-904 Student/Exchange Visitor Processing Fee. Be sure your name and SEVIS ID number is on the money order or check.  Maile the form and payment to:

Or by Western Union Quick Pay Service: Go to a Western Union location and ask for the Blue Form that says "Payment Services" or "Quick Pay" at the top.  This allows you to pay in your country's currency and send the I-901 and the payment electronically.

 

 International Transfer Students

 

If you are an international student already living and going to school in the United States, and you’d like to transfer to Brazosport College here are some steps to take:

 

 
Step 1
Apply to Brazosport College at www.applytexas.org
Deadline for application to Brazosport College is:
Fall Sememster: June 1
Spring Semester: October 1
 
Step 2

Complete SEVIS Transfer Release form.
 

Step 6

Make Copies of passport and Visa information

We will need a copy of the first page of your passport showing your name date of birth, and expiration date.  The expiration date must be more than six months away.  We also need a copy of the Visa page from your passport, your I-94 card (front and Back), and all previous I-20s.

 

·         Official communications from the College will come to you via email.  Please be diligent in checking your provided email address.
 
·         Some documents may require ground mail.  Mailing time varies for each individual country. Please allow several weeks for anything requiring ground mail. 
  
·         You should arrive here a week or more before the first day of class for testing, advisement and registration.
  
 
MAINTAINING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT STATUS
 
Thank you for selecting Brazosport College as the place to continue your education.  In order to maintain your F-1 status, there are several INS requirements you must meet to remain in status.  Please follow the instructions listed below to avoid difficulty with USCIS.
 
  • All students must keep the student copy of their I-20 with them at ALL TIMES. This is your verification that you are a legal F-1 student.
  • Students leaving the country must have their I-20 signed by the Designated School Official
  • Remember you passport must be renewed six (6) months before it expires.  You must bring your new passport to Brazosport College Registrar's Office, your I-20 will be terminated immediately.
  • All F-1 students must enroll and maintain 12 credit hours to be in status.
  • Only 3 credit hours of the 12 credits can be taken on-line.
  • Students can only work on campus.  See Designated School Official for details.
  • In order to stay in-status, all students must consult with the Designated School Official before dropping a course.
  • Students who are dropped by their instructors for non-attendance will be considered ou-of-status and must apply for Reinstatement.
  • Students who miss a semester due to academic suspension are considered out-of-status and must apply for Reinstatement.
