Lillian D. Lockett, MD was sworn-in as a member of the Board of Regents in September 2005.
Civic and Professional Participation
Dr. Lockett currently serves as a Board member of the Brazosport Health Alliance and has served on the Board of the SIDS Foundation. Since moving to the Brazosport area in 1992, Dr. Lockett has been a past member of the Rotary Club and currently is a member of the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce. As a champion of young women and women's health issues, Dr. Lockett frequently speaks and presents topics to community and church groups. Of special interest to Dr. Lockett is the Brazoria County Debutante Committee whose young women benefit from her sponsorship and mentoring.
Dr. Lockett joined Brazosport Memorial Hospital as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in 1992 and established her practice, Women's Healthcare, Inc. She served as Chair of the Maternal Neonatal Department from 1996-1997 and was elected to the position of Chief of Medical Staff in 2002-2003. Currently, Dr. Lockett continues in her role as an active staff member at Brazosport Memorial Hospital and is a member of the Brazoria County Medical Society.
Dr. Lockett is a native Houstonian and the youngest of twelve children. Raised in a Christian family with an emphasis on education, all Lockett siblings obtained undergraduate degrees and several siblings completed advanced professional degrees. Dr. Lockett attended Texas Woman's University and joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 1983, Dr. Lockett graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Her Doctor of Medicine Degree was obtained from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1988. Dr. Lockett returned to Houston to attend the Residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. While serving as Chief Resident, she completed her residency training in 1992. Dr. Lockett is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
