Taking Corrective Action
Managers and supervisors who want to develop an ongoing process for maximizing employees' potential

Unproductive behavior can affect not only the employee, but also the team, department, organization, and supervisor or manager. This course provides techniques for taking prompt action to correct unproductive behavior, replacing punishment with a joint action plan for getting back on track. Specific course material includes learning how to:

  • Point out the difference between present performance and agreed upon expectations
  • Describe specifically the negative impact of the employee's performance
  • Get the employee's view of the situation
  • Ask for ideas on how the employee can correct the situation and add suggestions
  • Explain any action steps planned and why
  • Agree on an action plan and a date for follow-up
  • Express confidence that the employee can correct the situation
