A Day in the Life of a Preschool Child-CDEC1002
Preschool children are unique, independent, curious, thoughtful, emotional, energetic, trusting and more. Children in the three to five age group can be full of challenges and possess varying degrees of skill. Discuss how best to support preschool children through each stage of development while also allowing them to blossom into independent thinkers. We will focus on developmental milestones, healthy environments, physical development, emotional and social engagement. Preschool is a critical time in every child’s life - learn how to make it count.
Getting Down to the Dirt!-CDEC1000
A child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn can be greatly influenced by the great outdoors. Discover how to provoke learning by using stimulating activities and open-ended questions that allow children to figure out their own answers rather than being told how the world around them works. An outdoor learning environment can also help manage challenging classroom behaviors.
Infant & Toddler Development-CDEC1003
Infants and toddlers are growing, learning and changing every day. Review developmental milestones, important environmental needs, health and wellness tips and more. Discuss teaching methods and unique ideas that can help early childhood professionals meet the needs of children under three years old. Come together and explore new ways to build firm developmental foundations for this age group.
It's Not Rocket Science!-CDEC1004
Math and science learned in the early childhood classroom is a critical part of a child’s future learning experiences. These important concepts can often be intimidating to teach based on your own past experience in these subjects. Participate in hands-on activities that will demonstrate how to effectively incorporate math and science concepts throughout daily preschool classroom activities.
What Gadgets do our Children Really Need?-CDEC1001
This class is based on Ellen Galinsky’s book “Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs.” In her book, Galinsky provides research-based advice for parents to understand child development, support well-rounded children and guide children to achieve their full potential. Early childhood professionals will benefit from this information and be better equipped and empowered in their classrooms.
