Campus Concealed Carry - Texas SB 11

Texas SB 11 (Campus Concealed Carry) does not go into effect for community colleges until August 1, 2017.

Therefore, pursuant to Section 30.06 of the Texas Penal Code and Brazosport College Board policy, the use, possession, or display of firearms are currently prohibited inside Brazosport College premises.
As outlined in the legislation, I will be consulting with students, faculty and staff to create reasonable rules and/or regulations regarding the carrying of concealed weapons on campus. Considerations of SB 11 include:
  • The nature of the student population
  • Safety concerns
  • Uniqueness of campus
Forums, surveys and town halls will occur during the 2015-2016 academic year. Please check your email and social media for updates and dates beginning fall 2015.
I look forward to working with our campus community on this important issue.

Thank  you,
Dr. Millicent M. Valek
President
