The Grant Office continues to be proud of the collaborative relationships that it has fostered with Brazosport College’s departments and divisions over the past seven years. In AY 2011/12, these collaborative efforts generated winning grant applications that netted more than $2.1 million for the College’s programs.
Of these monies, more than $500,000 was awarded by the Comptroller’s Office through its JET fund competitions—and subsequently funded the purchase of new equipment and technology for the welding and electrical construction trades programs.
Additionally, the College successfully submitted and won grant awards for its successful strategies targeting developmental education students and student success initiatives. In recognition of its documented successes, Brazosport College was awarded two separate and quite prestigious grant contracts— the Walmart PRESS for Completion grant and the Houston Endowment’s PASS grant.
As you read these pages, I ask that each of you focus upon the programs and services that have been funded with grant monies . These monies enable our staff and faculty to better assist students in overcoming the many challenges that they face each day as they work to make their dreams of a college degree a reality. Without them, our work would surely have less impact. Grant funds are key to our ongoing success and the College’s ability to try new and innovative strategies as we strive to ensure that our students succeed in their pursuit of a college certificate or degree.
Working together, the grant office and Brazosport College faculty and staff will continue blazing trails that wouldn’t be possible without these resources that come to us through the generosity of our funders—federal, state and private foundations.
I look forward to working with our administrators, staff and faculty in the coming year as we strive to make an even greater impact through the acquisition of additional grant funds.
