Job Responsibilities
Prior to joining the Brazosport College administration, Ms. Shawver served as the Assistant Director of Grant Development for the state-wide Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana system in their central office. Additionally, she has worked extensively with community-based organizations, social service agencies and youth development organizations.
As the Director of Grant Administration for Brazosport College, Ms. Shawver: (1) Administers, directs and oversees the development of external grant funds; (2) Facilitates group planning for grant development; (3) Assists staff/faculty to write proposals; (4) Reviews/submits all proposals, ensuring compliance; (5) Provides expertise, direction and grant-related training; (6) Monitors and interprets regulations, ensures regulatory compliance, informs and advises administrative representatives of regulatory mandates/liabilities; (7) Submits reports prepared by program personnel for all grants; (8) Reviews for accuracy grant budgets and revisions; and (9) Performs research and data analysis.

Job Responsibilities
As the Administrative Office Specialist for the Grant Administration Office, Ms. Hodge: (1) Manages the IT Works electronic database and other official grant program files for Brazosport College; (2) Coordinates the internal Gator Grant Program by reviewing applications, monitoring program budget, and communicating with grant recipients; (3) Reviews grant report submissions by issuing timely reminders to appropriate project directors, submitting reports to funding agencies, proofreading reports; (4) Researches current federal, state, and foundation funding opportunities and notifies the appropriate faculty and staff; (5) Assists preparation of grant proposal submissions, contracts, and other documents; (6) Prepares department reports with data on awarded grants and monies raised; (7) Updates department GRANT NEWS blog with current grant opportunities and promotes readership to college faculty and staff; (8) Researches latest educational reports and articles for inclusion in GRANT NEWS blog;  (9) Performs other department administrative duties such as answering the phones, filing, travel requisitions, procurement card reports, and ordering supplies.
