BC Writing Center to host book signing celebrating local author’s latest novel

Wed Aug 29, 2018

The Brazosport College Writing Center will host a book reading and signing from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 for award-winning author and former Brazosport College student, Ammar Habib.

The signing will be at the BC Student Success Center and will celebrate the release of Habib’s newest release, “The Heart of Aleppo: A Story of the Syrian Civil War.”

The event will feature a reading from Habib’s newest novel, as well as a book signing and plenty of conversation. Refreshments will be provided.

Dedicated to the brave people of Syria, “The Heart of Aleppo” is a story about 13-year-old Zaid Kadir, who was separated from his family and is lost in the middle of a war zone. Alongside his friends, he is forced to survive the dangers of a civil war he does not even fully understand. Zaid witnesses the destruction of the brutal Syrian Civil War as it grows more deadly by the day and rips his city apart. However, as he braves this destruction, as he desperately tries to survive this catastrophe, he discovers something. Zaid realizes that it is in the darkest hours when humanity's spirit of hope burns brightest.

Habib, who earned a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree from Brazosport College in 2015, has written numerous novels, including his popular “Dark Guardian” trilogy. He has also co-authored other novels, including “Memories of My Future” with Anil Sinha and “Ana Rocha: Shadows of Justice” with Glenda Mendoza.

His books can be purchased at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. More information about Habib can be found at www.ammarahsenhabib.com.
