From the Top, the preeminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on Houston Public Media comes to the Clarion Center on Friday, March 4, at 7:30 PM. This special live radio recording event will celebrate the great musical training and talent in the Houston area with performances by two local teen musicians. Featured on the broadcast will be 11-year-old pianist Bryant Li from Katy, Texas, as well as 17-year-old trumpet player Ayman Abouleish from Houston, Texas.

This show will also feature a quartet from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University performing a composition by 18-year-old composer Aiyana Braun from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This recording of the popular NPR program hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley will feature amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young musicians from across the country, including the 17-year-old flute player Mei Stone from Waco, Texas, who is currently studying at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and 16-year-old violinist Joshua Brown from Gurnee, Illinois.

Now in its 15th year, From the Top's live recordings reach more than 20,000 live audience members of all ages across the United States each year. In conjunction with its national tour, From the Top’s Education & Outreach department offers leadership training to young artists and conducts classroom and community programs leveraging the power of its performers as role models for younger students.
