Welcome to the Gator Career and Guidance Center, where it is our goal to educate, support, and guide individuals in the process of career planning. The staff/counselors are here to assist you acquire the information and necessary skills to transition from the classrooms to the workplace.
GCGC has something to offer everyone. Whether you are uncertain about a major, a career choice , writing resumes, or interviewing, you can utilize the center when needed to make these major decisions. A variety of tools are available to help students assess their interests, skills, work values, and personality types, and match these attributes with specific careers. We are here to help.

Career counselors and advisors can meet with you one-on-one to discuss your plans and help you find a focus for your career and life. They can also introduce you to a wealth of resources located at the career services office.
The Gator Career and Guidance Center will help you learn about various occupations. As well as point you toward resources you can use to gather information. We have an in-house career and professional development library.
Job Interview Preparation
As with every skill you've ever learned, you have to know the technique and then practice, practice, practice. A mock interview will not only help you perfect your technique, but it will also allow you to get valuable feedback and coaching on your performance. A mock interview helps you learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve your communication skills, and reduce your stress before your job interview. . If you would like to schedule a mock interview, come by the Counseling and Testing department to speak with a counselor about preparing for an upcoming interview.
Mock Interview Cancellation Policy: You must personally contact LaTanya Miles by email or telephone (2) business days BEFORE the scheduled interview to cancel.
Career services offices maintain job listings. They also post part-time job openings for current students and often alert students about internship opportunities. The Career services offices also host job fairs, during which prospective employers visit the campus to recruit students about to graduate.
In the Gator Career and Guidance Center you will find a library of Professional Development Resource Books.
Resume and Cover Letter Advice and Critiques
Are you wondering whether you’ve prepared your resume correctly, or have you put off preparing one at all? A meeting with a career counselor or adviser can help you learn the basics; from what information to include to what typeface to use. If you don’t have a resume or need assistance putting one together, use the Resume Worksheet to assist you in developing the content of your resume, and then bring or submit a copy to LaTanya Miles for assistance in creating your resume.
Are you uncertain about what career and/or major to pursue. Or have you already chosen a major but aren’t sure where it can take you? Career counselors are trained to administer a variety of standardized tests that can help you pinpoint careers that suit your interests, values, and personality type. Career Decision Making System
Success and satisfaction in your career requires learning about yourself and the world of work. The Career Decision Making System will help you to know yourself, your abilities, your work values, potential jobs to explore as well as help you know the world of work.
The Gator Career and Guidance Center is proud to announce the addition of Career Coach, a valuable online search tool, to its website. Career Coach gives the students the power to explore hundreds of potential careers while providing them with the tools necessary to make informed decisions about their career and educational plans. This new tool provides career information and career options necessary for student success at GRCC.
Students can search for a job or a program with keywords related to your career interest. Career Coach provides students and potential students with information about:
• Regional employment descriptions
• Career opportunities with occupational forecasts
• Income potential
• Education and training available at GRCC for those specific careers.
• Real-time job postings
Additionally, you can create an account with your own login and password. Once you create an account, you may bookmark your searched information for further exploration when you return to Career Coach. Career Coach also contains a Resume Builder that helps you create your own resume. At present there is no way to save your resume on the Career Coach system, but you may export it into MS Word after you have finished. Once you export your resume you can continue to edit the document in MS Word.
