Welcome to the Gator Career and Guidance Center, where it is our goal to educate, support, and guide individuals in the process of career planning. The staff/counselors are here to assist you acquire the information and necessary skills to transition from the classrooms to the workplace.
GCGC has something to offer everyone. Whether you are uncertain about a major, a career choice , writing resumes, or interviewing, you can utilize the center when needed to make these major decisions. A variety of tools are available to help students assess their interests, skills, work values, and personality types, and match these attributes with specific careers. We are here to help.

Career counselors and advisors can meet with you one-on-one to discuss your plans and help you find a focus for your career and life. They can also introduce you to a wealth of resources located at the career services office.
The Gator Career and Guidance Center will help you learn about various occupations. As well as point you toward resources you can use to gather information. We have an in-house career and professional development library.
Job Interview Preparation
As with every skill you've ever learned, you have to know the technique and then practice, practice, practice. A mock interview will not only help you perfect your technique, but it will also allow you to get valuable feedback and coaching on your performance. A mock interview helps you learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve your communication skills, and reduce your stress before your job interview. . If you would like to schedule a mock interview, come by the Counseling and Testing department to speak with a counselor about preparing for an upcoming interview.
Mock Interview Cancellation Policy: You must personally contact LaTanya Miles or Bre Mottu by email or telephone (2) business days BEFORE the scheduled interview to cancel.

Resume and Cover Letter Advice and Critiques
Are you wondering whether you’ve prepared your resume correctly, or have you put off preparing one at all? A meeting with a Career Advisor can help you learn the basics; from what information to include to what typeface to use. If you don’t have a resume or need assistance putting one together, feel free to use one of the Resume Templates below to assist you in developing your resume, and then bring or submit a copy to LaTanya Miles for assistance in revising your resume for a more tailored, professional look.
Are you uncertain about what career and/or major to pursue. Or have you already chosen a major but aren’t sure where it can take you? Career counselors are trained to administer a variety of standardized tests that can help you pinpoint careers that suit your interests, values, and personality type. Gator Career and Guidance Center maintains job listings on several platforms- College Central Network, Job Binder and two job boards located inside of the Center, Hot Jobs board located in the hallway near Gator Hall, and on The Brazosport Career and Transfer Facebook page.
The Gator Career and Guidance Center is proud to announce the addition of Career Coach,
a valuable online search tool, to its website. Career Coach gives the
students the power to explore hundreds of potential careers while
providing them with the tools necessary to make informed decisions about
their career and educational plans. This new tool provides career
information and career options necessary for student success at GRCC.
Students can search for a job or a program with keywords related to
your career interest. Career Coach provides students and potential
students with information about:
• Regional employment descriptions
• Career opportunities with occupational forecasts
• Income potential
• Education and training available at GRCC for those specific careers.
• Real-time job postings
Additionally, you can create an account with your own login and
password. Once you create an account, you may bookmark your searched
information for further exploration when you return to Career Coach.
Career Coach also contains a Resume Builder that helps you create your
own resume. At present there is no way to save your resume on the Career
Coach system, but you may export it into MS Word after you have
finished. Once you export your resume you can continue to edit the
document in MS Word.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook provides career information available from the U.S. Department of Labor.
