ENGL 1301 Composition and Rhetoric I. CIP 2313015112
This course introduces the rhetorical and mechanical skills
necessary to develop confident, informed voices. Students will
learn about the writing process through critical reading of nonfiction
and fiction prose, revision, editing and collaboration. In
particular, the course focuses on the strategies and conventions
of academic writing, especially exposition and argumentation. (3

ENGL 1302 Composition and Rhetoric II. CIP 2313015112
Study of and practice in the strategies and techniques for developing
research-based expository and persuasive writing.  Emphasis on interaction
with literary texts, effective and ethical  inquiry, including primary and
secondary research methods; critical reading of texts in any format; systematic
evaluation, synthesis, and documentation of information sources; and critical

Students will learn techniques for generating and revising
material in all genres of creative writing. Exploration of new
genres and development of work already begun are both
encouraged. Students will learn how to work through blocks,

reviewed in a friendly, supportive workshop environment
