Description of Honors English 1301
Honors English 1301 (Composition and Rhetoric I) provides an excellent opportunity for students to engage in deeper critical thinking than do most English 1301 courses—students read work by the world’s greatest thinkers, from all over the planet and across time.  Because Honors English 1301 requires only three papers and focuses on the revision process, students have the opportunity to develop their writing skills more completely than they might in other English 1301 courses.  Honors English 1301 also allows for more in-depth discussion than is usually possible in most English 1301 courses.
Students who successfully complete Honors English 1301 and 1302 will have the skills not only to transfer successfully to any university, but they will also have the tools to succeed at writing papers in any university course.

Description of Honors English 1302
Honors English 1302 (Composition and Rhetoric II) provides an excellent opportunity for students to engage in deeper critical thinking than do most English 1302 courses—partly because students read literary works, commentaries by writers on writers, and commentaries by writers on their own work.  Students also read very closely and practice sophisticated methods of understanding literature.  Because Honors English 1302 requires only three papers and focuses on the revision process, students have the opportunity to develop their writing skills more completely than they might in other English 1302 courses.  Honors English 1302 also allows for more in-depth discussion than is usually possible in most English 1302 courses.
