The Mathematics Bridge Academy at Brazosport College is a three week program designed to help junior high and high school students sharpen their mathematics skills, fill gaps in past knowledge, and accelerate progress toward advanced mathematics.

The academy features:

  • Pretesting to discover gaps and target areas for acceleration 
  • Individualized instruction in the computer lab, featuring practice work tailored to each student’s needs
  • Exit testing to assess progress
  • Instructors with teaching experience at high school level and at Brazosport College
  • Tutors available to work one-on-one with students during computer lab time
  • Activities to build skills critical thinking skills needed for college and career success
  • Campus tours and information on opportunities for early college credit
  • Career presentations from industry partnerts and faculty and staff who prepare students for jobs in local industries




 
 

 Who can participate?

 

In the summer of 2015, Math Bridge Academy will be open to any student entering, exiting, or needing additional practice in Algebra I.  All sections cover the same math so students simply choose the dates and times that work best for them, regardless of current grade or math level.

 

 Where is the academy?

 

The Mathematics Bridge Academy is held on the Brazosport College Campus, 500 College Drive in Lake Jackson, in our new state of the art Mathematics Achievement Center. The Center is located towards the back of BC Central in room F-102.  This map shows the designated pick-up and drop-off location.

 

 What does it cost?

 

In the summer of 2015, Math Bridge Academy will have a $41 fee that students pay at registration. This fee covers all supplies and 16 weeks of access to online software that students will use during the academy and for further practice at home. 

 

 When is the academy?

 

There are three academy dates to choose from:

Academy 1: June 8-25

Academy 2: June 29-July 16

Academy 3: July 20-August 6

There are two times available for each academy: 9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm.

 

 How do I sign up?

 

Registration opens May 4th.

Follow the steps below to register online or visit the Community Education Office (B-100) on the Brazosport College Campus.

Step 1: Log in to the Community Education page. CLICK HERE! Step 1: Register for the new account.

​Step 2: Click "Register Online" on the right side of the page.
​Step 2: Complete the form and click "Submit Application". An email will be sent to the address provided.
​Step 3: Sign in with ID number and PIN.
​Step 3: Check your email and follow the link provided.
Click "click here to log in to your account" and agree to the information technology security agreement.
​Step 4: Move your mouse over "registration" until the drop down appears.
​Step 5: Click "Add/Drop Courses".
​Step 6: Select months June-August.
​Step 7: Choose the category "Special Events". ​
​Step 8: Click "Display Schedule and Available Course".
Step 9: Find the Math Bridge Academy session (dates and times) that works for you.
​Step 10: Before adding the course, open the PDF in the Forms column and complete the form.  The Math Bridge Release Form is the prerequisite that must be submitted before adding the course.
​Step 11: Click "Add" to enroll in the course. ​
​Step 12: Pay for the course.



Code of Conduct
  
 
All participants will be required to turn in a signed copy of the Code of Conduct by the end of the first week of their academy.  You may choose to print from the link below, or receive a copy on the first day.
