What should I do to prepare for registration?

1. Applying for admission is the first step to registering as a new student to Brazosport College. Complete your free application at Once you have completed your application, you will receive an email containing your student ID and PIN number. A hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register until required documents are taken to the Registrar's office.

The following documents may be required for admissions:

- High school transcript or GED, if this is the first time you attend college.

- Official college transcript, if you have attended another college.

2. A bacterial meningitis vaccination is required for all students under the age of 22. You will not be allowed to register without proof of this vaccination. If you are under the age of 22 but only taking online courses, you can request a waiver for this vaccination in person at the Registrar's office.

3. Apply for financial aid and scholarships. A FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be completed at The Brazosport College school code is "007287". Assistance filling out the FAFSA is available at the Career Center. Many scholarships are also offered. Visit our scholarship site or Financial Aid website for more information on money available.

Student worker opportunities are also available for those who qualify. Apply here.

Veterans, please bring your DD214 if you would like to apply to use your GI or Hazelwood benefits.

4. Placement testing, also known as the TSI exam, is required for all incoming students.  If you have test scores for the ACT, SAT, TAKS, or STARR testing that are less than five years old, you may be exempt from TSI testing. Incoming students can look up TSI test dates online, however you must register for a TSI exam at the front desk in the BC Lobby and pay $29 at the cashier's office. Please bring a picture ID with you when you take your TSI exam. We do not offer online payment at this time. Students with disabilities who need an accommodation or modification for placement testing and/or course accommodations should contact the Disability Services Counselor at (979) 230-3236.

Note: TSI exams are free for all Sophomore, Junior, and Seniors until Spring semester Dual Credit students ONLY.

5. Once placement tests are completed, meet with an advisor to discuss your scores, degree planning and registration for the upcoming semester. An e-counselor is also available to assist you.

6. All new students are required to attend New Student Orientation. Register for New Student Orientation here.

7. Make payment or payment arrangements for tuition and fees. You will need proof of payment/payment plan in order to take your student picture ID and student account information from IT. Payment plan information is available here

8. Obtain your BC student picture ID in the library. Your student ID information is needed for computer and online class access. You also need your student ID to use the library, gym, and The Swamp recreation center.

Current students: We encourage you to view the on-line Schedules and your degree audit in advance to prepare for registration. It is a good idea to have several schedule options ready before logging in to register for classes. Students should verify all holds have been taken care off, complete testing, see an advisor (if necessary), and complete financial aid (if applying) ahead of your priority registration date to ensure smooth enrollment.

What About Intersession?

Registration for May Intersession, or mini-mester, will follow the same Priority Registration Dates for the Summer & Fall 2015 semesters.

What is Priority Registration?

Priority Registration allows students who have completed a specified number of credit hours to register before students who have completed fewer credit hours. Pre-Registration will be controlled by date and is based on total credits already earned. These hours do not include the current semester. Please see the chart below detailing the number of credits that must be earned in order to register on the specified date.

What are Total Earned Credits?

Total Earned Credits is the number of credits you have actually completed. Courses in progress, transitional courses, repeated courses, and other noncredit courses, or courses with grades of I (Incomplete), F or NG do not count as total earned credits.

How do I know how many total earned credits I have?

You may look up your total earned credits anytime by logging into myBC.

What day do I register?

The registration system will assign students to specific dates based upon total credits earned. You will not be allowed to register before the date assigned by the system. Once your assigned date arrives, you will be able to pre-register and the system will continue to remain open to you from that point forward. You will then be able to make schedules changes until registration for the semester completely ends.
