GRANTS PROVIDE TRAINING FOR AREA INDUSTRY PARTNERS |
|
The past several years have been challenging ones for our local community, state and country. Brazosport College has been fortunate to secure both state and federal funding streams that have provided free training for employees of local companies. More specifically, over five million dollars has been secured to develop and deliver a variety of training for the petrochemical, refining and nuclear industries. Importantly, all learners at Brazosport College (credit, Community Education and CBIT) have benefitted from these grant dollars.
Two Department of Labor projects have been collaborative grants with other area colleges including Lee College, San Jacinto College and College of the Mainland. These projects include close to two million to be spent over three years that will allow for the development and delivery of an Applied Instrumentation curriculum and the delivery of a variety of training for process operators. Texas Workforce Commission grants have provided another two million dollars over a one-year training period that will allow for the development and delivery of Applied Instrumentation curriculum, training for process operators, computer training and a host of professional development classes. Additional funding from the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Department of Education have allowed for additional curriculum development and training for individuals engaging in healthcare-based Community Education instruction/certifications like dental assistants, pharmacy technicians, phlebotomists and Certified Nurse Aides.
CBIT is always looking for new opportunities to partner with local industry and individual companies to provide training for employees. Please contact Anne Bartlett, CBIT Director, at 979-230-3251 or anne.bartlett@brazosport.edu if your employer is interested in leveraging the aforementioned grant dollars. Similarly, please contact CBIT if your company is interested in collaborating with Brazosport College on a new project. Grant dollars are available but we have to apply for them in order to receive them! |
