READI: Brazosport College is using Readiness for Education at a Distance Indicator (READI) as a tool to assist students in understanding the skills required to complete an online course. READI is not a screening tool to keep you from taking an online course, but rather as a guide to help you improve your ability to learn. The process may take 20 -30 minutes and if you cannot finish it now, you may complete it at a later time. You will receive a PIN at the email address you used for registration. Using that email address and your PIN, you can start where you left off or view your results once you are finished using the link below.

Internet Courses: The most popular course format is to interact with instructor and classmates through a learning managment system, Blackboard Learning System, using a personal computer connected to the internet. A variety of formats, requirements, and software are used according to content and preferred instructional strategy. Some instructors require on-site, proctered testing.
To access your course on Blackboard follow these steps:
1. Locate the Brazosport College Homepage: http://www.brazosport.edu
2. Click on Quicklinks, Distance Learning, then Internet Courses. There are also several links to Blackboard on the Distance Learning page.
3. The Login page will appear. You must wait while the browser check runs. Be sure to allow popups from this location.
4. Type your User Name (your ID is the first initial of your first name, full last name, and the last four digits of your student ID. (ex: jsmith2468).
5. Type your password (see Password Information below)
6. You should see your My B.C. Web Courses page with your course listed. (first time users must change password).
7. Click on your course and read the syllabus.
Password Information
Use the password you use to log on to the BC network on campus. If you have an account but cannot remember your password, use the BCNET password reset or call the Help Desk for assistance, (979) 230-3266.
How to Acquire a BCNET Student Account
If you have any questions please contact the IT Helpdesk at (979) 230-3266. This account is also used to access the Libary's Online Resources (see Library Services Information below).
If you Register on Campus
You must take your Student Photo ID card to the IT Helpdesk in F-139 and they will set up your account. You must know your BC student ID and PIN number. If you do not know your PIN number, you will need to go to the Office of the Registrar with a photo ID. Your Student Photo ID must have a current sticker when you present the card to the Helpdesk. If you do not have a Student Photo ID card or a current sticker go to the Library. Your password will be bc and your PIN number the first time you log on at which time you will have to change it.
If you Register On-line
Once you register, you should return to the Brazosport College Homepage and click on the link for Student Account Security Agreement. You will need your Student ID and Pin to access this agreement. Once you have read the agreement carefully, click the Accept button to “Sign” the agreement. Then call the IT Helpdesk, (979) 230-3266. They will verify that the request has been “Signed” (Accepted) and then activate your account. Your password will be bc plus your PIN number (i.e. bc12345) the first time you log on at which time you will have to change it.

The Blackboard Learning Systems login page contains information for you to check for Browser issues, Popup Blockers, etc. Please read this information to ensure that you are able to reach your course.
Please do not use a Favorite or Bookmark for Blackboard Learning Systems.
Do not leave session unattended! You will be locked out after 2 hours of inactivity!

Computing and Help Desk - Every distance education student will receive an email account and a BC network account. The network account allows access to library services, campus computers, network storage, and other services depending on permissions. More information can be found at www.brazosport.cc.tx.us/~it/student_accounts.htm. You must complete the Student Account Security Agreement available at www.brazosport.edu/oasis/security_agreement.html.. You will need your user name and PIN. After completing the form, students must call the Help Desk, (979) 230-3266, or visit F-139 between 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday or 8:00 a.m. to Noon on Friday to have the form verified. Help desk personnel then provide access to your BC network account and your email account.
