Dorothy Brandt, Ph.D.
Department Chair and Associate Professor, Bachelor of Applied Technology Program
In August 2004, Dorothy Brandt, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, became department chair and associate professor of Brazosport College's new Bachelor of Applied Technology degree program. Dorothy has a B.S. – Accounting , an MBA, a M.S.-Logistics Management, and a Ph.D. – Organization and Management. Dorothy also completed a one-year graduate Online Teaching Certificate program through UCLA. Dorothy has nineteen years’ experience teaching college business and accounting courses, including ten years developing and delivering distance courses to students seeking degrees as well as those upgrading job skills. She was Chair of the Business Faculty at the University of Alaska Southeast (1996-2000) and accounting faculty at Everett Community College north of Seattle (2000-2004). Dr. Brandt has received many awards for outstanding teaching and service. Prior to embarking on a full-time teaching career (from 1982 to 1996), Dorothy held various accounting and auditing supervisory and management positions, including accounting and auditing supervisor for the former U S West, Inc. (now Qwest) in Seattle, Auditing Manager for Citizens Utilities Company in California, Accounting Supervisor for a subsidiary of GE Capital in Seattle, and Accounting Manager for the City of Ketchikan, Alaska. Dorothy, her husband Geoff, and their Schipperke Sam (a dog) love to sail. Since their home is located on the Gulf of Mexico, they often explore nearby coastal areas in their sailboat.
