I AM FROM
a sleepy little town just south of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. We lived about 45 minutes from the nearest stoplight. My childhood activities included shoveling snow, splitting wood, shoveling snow, torturing my sister, shoveling snow, waisting time, and did I mention shoveling snow?
I STUDIED
at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, about one hour south of the California, Oregon border on the pacific coast. The average daily high temperature in the summer was about 68 degrees. I studied applied mathematics, ecology, and salmon fishing.
I HAVE WORKED
as a math instructor at Humboldt State University, College of the Redwoods, San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, and Brazosport College.
I HAVE SERVED
as an archery instructor, teaching new archers how to shoot tennis balls and beer cans off stacks of hay
as a researcher on numerous projects involving ecology, mathematics, and the natural world, both in California and Texas
as a volunteer for the US Fish and Wildlife Service
I CURRENTLY
live in the woods northwest of Angleton, TX with my wonderful wife Melissa. Our house is governed by our three "fury" four legged children: Tiger, Champagne, and Skye. We enjoy bird watching, astronomy, and anything else in God's wonderful creation.
