Tanya Klinegardner MSN, RN, FNP, APRN-BC
Assistant Professor of Nursing
I joined Brazosport College last year, but am not new to the college or the area. Born and raised in Waco, Texas I met and married my husband and relocated to Angleton nearly 15 years ago. I received an Associate Degree from Brazosport College, then The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston earning a Baccalaureate and Masters Degree in Nursing. I became a Family Nurse Practitioner.
I accepted an opportunity to work in a terrific private practice with a wonderful physician for about 3 years. One of my long term goals has been teaching and earning a doctorate. The next step in my journey was working in a university setting.
I accepted a great opportunity to join UTMB clinical faculty, gaining expertise in OB/GYN practice. Practicing at UTMB afforded me the opportunity to work with residents, medical, nursing, and nurse practitioner students. I enjoyed mentoring a variety of health care providers. I am passionate about teaching and am very excited to be part of a brand new Associate Degree in Nursing Program!
A little about me:
I am married with two children and active at Second Baptist Church in Angleton. I love to play piano, have a real avocation for computer technology, and enjoy online research. I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program to obtain a doctorate in education with an emphasis in educational technology. I feel being a student myself helps me truly understand my students struggles, as well as successes.
My students:
Students are the reason I am here. I look forward to every day here, hoping to facilitate and witness students, as they make connections and understand concepts. I expects students to come to class prepared, yet feel comfortable enough to ask questions and dialogue. I like to deviate from the traditional "stand at the front of the class and lecture" approach. So, come ready to participate and be involved in class. You will not be bored!
