Prerequisites:  None

 

Catalog Description:  An entry level course in digital electronics covering number systems, binary mathematics, digital codes, logic gates, Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps, and combinational logic. Emphasis on circuit logic analysis and troubleshooting digital circuits. Includes asynchronous and synchronous logic as utilized in various decoders, registers, adders and other digital computer circuits. Hands-on circuit implementation techniques are also covered.

Attendance:  College policy states: “Students at Brazosport College are expected to attend class regularly. No unexcused absences or ‘cuts’ are allowed...Students are responsible for all class work done during any absence.”

 

Withdrawal policy: Students who are absent more than 20% of the total number of class days will be withdrawn from the course. Students who are habitually tardy will have ˝ day absence counted for every time they are tardy or leave class early; this will be counted in the 20%.

 

Grades: grades will be determined by the following system:

 

1.  Unit Tests                           60%

            2.  Labs                                   20%

            3.  Final Examination                20%

 

Make-up  work:  Make-up work will be handled on an individual basis provided the student has a PREARRANGED excusable absence.

 

Work turned in late will be assessed a 20% penalty if one day late, 50% for two days and will not be accepted thereafter unless the student makes previous arrangements with the instructor.
