I was raised in the Brazosport area and a few years after my high school graduation I joined the United States Army. After spending almost seven years in the communications division I left the Army and returned to my hometown. I then became the first female patrol officer for one of the local municipal police departments. I rose through the ranks and was promoted to Detective Sergeant and then went on to become the Administrative Lieutenant. During my stint at the police department I attended college earning my degrees, and taught part time here at Brazosport College. In 2004 the position opened up for a full time Criminal Justice faculty member and Coordinator for the Law Enforcement Academy. I retired from the police department and accepted the position here on our campus. Although I do enjoy my job as a teacher, I missed investigations and when a local law enforcement agency approached me about doing some part time criminal investigations work it was too much to resist, so I accepted the position, I guess you could say that is one of my special interests.
