LVN PROGRAM
The Vocational Nursing Program is eleven months, beginning approximately the second week in January and ending the 2nd week of November.
NEW!: There are now 3 prerequisite courses that must be completed before applying to the LVN program: Psyc 1300, Learning Frameworks and HITT 1305, Medical Terminology, and VNSG 1320, Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health. Please see a counselor for more information.
The prerequisite class of VNSG 1320 is only offered in the summer with a limit of 50 students. Applicants who have successfully completed A&P I & II with a grade of "B” or better within the previous year will be exempt from this course. If these have not been taken within the past year, applicants that have made a "B" or better are eligible to seek credit by exam for VNSG1320. Check with Testing Center for dates and times for test.
Selection for the VN program is made by a committee of Brazosport College faculty and staff; based on the completed application, transcripts, references, work history, placement test results(TEAS) of qualified applicants, and successful completion of prerequisites.
Applications will be available May 1st and are due August 1st. Approximately 24 students will be accepted into the program.
The TEAS exam is used as a placement exam for the LVN program. All applicants must take this exam. A schedule of the dates and times this test will be administered will be posted during the application period.
Approximate cost of the VN program is: Tuition, Fees, Textbooks, & Uniforms: $4800(In-District), $6000(Out-of-District)
VN applicants should meet with Financial Aid representatives about financial aid.
Classes are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; clinical is 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some evening shifts may be utilized.
Classes are held at Brazosport College. Clinical assignments are at local facilities.
Percent of Brazosport College VN graduates passing the state licensure exam on the first attempt is 100% for the last 16 years.
