Brazosport College wants to help you succeed  in your educational effort by providing the services listed below. We are located adjacent to the Library. If you need assistance, please ask at the desk. Please follow the policies listed below.

Computing Services

Learning Services offers an open computer lab with approximately 40 computers primarily set-aside for student use. You do not need a BC account to access the internet or computer software.  Most software applications used on campus for labs, tutorials, practice, and assignments for course work are available on one or more of the computers.  Two computers have scanners. All computers can all print.  Prices are listed below:

        Þ Black & white copies = 10¢ per page.
Þ Color copies = 25¢ per page_.

 Online Learning Services

A section of the computer lab is set aside for online course work. Additional tools including mics, headphones, webcams, touch-screens, and related software is available for use. The Learning Services staff is available to assist with online course software

Testing Services

Proctored testing services are provided for faculty and students at the following times:  

Monday - Thursday	Friday
8:00 a.m.   10:00 a.m.   1:00 p.m.   5:00 p.m.   7:00 p.m.	8:00 a.m.   10:00 a.m.

Testing starts promptly at the times above. A 15-minute grace period is allowed before a test slot is given to unscheduled students on a first-come first-served basis.

It is very important that students call 230-3253 or come by  to schedule an appointment since only 25 students are scheduled at a time. During peak times, testing is full. Two tests will require two different scheduled times.

A current Brazosport College Photo I.D. is required for all BC tests are administered.  

Testing, including computerized testing , is provided for other schools .

Audio/Visual Services

Students may view audio/visual tapes, CDs, or other media that instructors reserve.   These materials are used in the audio/visual area and may not be removed from the Library/Learning Services area.  To obtain headphones and media, students must leave a Brazosport College Photo ID which will be returned when the items are turned in.  

Tech Support Services

 The Learning Services staff provides a limited amount of technical support related to course work.  Please ask questions about how certain features of programs work. Student Success provides tutoring for some software. Please contact them for more detailed support.

 Office Equipment Services

 The following equipment is available for student use:

Photocopier — 10¢ per page except 11X17 which is 25¢ per page
Laminator — 25¢ per foot, 3 feet minimum
Stapler including extra thick and long reach
Hole punches
Tape dispensers

Study Skill Services

Many students need assistance in developing strong study skills.  Learning Services provides a variety of information to aid students in understanding how to manage their time and optimize learning.  Topics offered include test-taking strategies, writing improvement, reading skills, test preparation skills, and information on time management.  Link here to for the Study Skill information on the web.

Conference Rooms

Three large conference rooms are available for meetings, study groups, etc.  Room reservation forms for the week  are posted on the doors for each room. Five small conference rooms are available in the library next door.

Þ Silent Cell Phones: All cell phones must be set to silent mode or be turned off. A student making or receiving a call must step outside.  Ringing phones disturb those around you and interrupt those in the testing area.  Students taking a test will be asked to leave, terminating the test,  if your cell phone rings unless there are special circumstances.

Þ No Children: Since Learning Services is a designated testing and study area within Brazosport College, young children should not be brought to the area.

Þ Games and Chat Sessions: The purpose of Learning Services is to support course work. The computers are available for academic use. Students should not engage in chat sessions or play games on the computers. The downloading of games or music onto the computers is prohibited. Any student that uses chat sessions or games may be asked to leave the computer.

Þ Inappropriate Material: Downloading, viewing, or printing of inappropriate material on computers is not allowed at anytime. Disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who chooses to engage in this activity.
