VOCATIONAL NURSING PROGRAM

Vocational Nursing Certificate
While Brazosport College is an open admissions institution, the Vocational Nursing Program requires separate admission and approval. Students will be admitted to the program through a competitive selection process. In order to be considered for admission to the program, students must have submitted to the Office of the Registrar an application for admission to Brazosport College, an application for admission to the Vocational Nursing program, and transcripts of previous college and high school work. Deadline for the submission of transcripts and applications is April 15. Applicants will take the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) on the Brazosport College campus within four months of the application deadline. Students who have completed an application and are successful on the NET will be contacted to schedule an interview with the nursing faculty. A committee of Brazosport College teachers and staff selects the students for the class from the applicant pool. Applicants selected are required to successfully complete Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health (VNSG 1420) in the first summer semester prior to the start of the LVN program in August. A minimum grade of C is required to continue in the program. Any student who has successfully completed Anatomy and Physiology I & II (BIOL 2401 and 2402) with a grade of C or better will be eligible to attempt credit by exam for VNSG 1420. The credit by examination will be offered through the Counseling and Testing Office and graded by the LVN department.

The Brazosport College Vocational Nursing Certificate Program is approved by the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
