High school students seeking early admission to Brazosport College are required to submit an online application for admission, view the new student orientation video and submit a survey, report applicable test scores, and complete an application for early admission/dual credit. Each student must be approved by the high school principal and/or high school counselor, the shared counselor, and a parent/guardian to enroll in the Dual Credit Program.
When students have satisfied the admission requirements for Brazosport College, they are eligible to register for early enrollment into college classes. Students may take two college courses each semester they are eligible.
- Students may choose to take college courses as part of their junior and senior year.
- Books, fees, tuition and transportation are the student/parent responsibility, each semester.
- "Dual" credit courses may count for both high school and college credit upon successful completion of college courses. Check with your local high school for grading requirements.
- "Concurrent" credit courses count for college credit only and may be any course in the college catalog for which the student is eligible.
- Academic course credits are easily transferred to senior colleges and universities. Check with the university or college you plan to attend for specific degree requirements.
- Students are encouraged to work with their counselor to choose the courses for which they are best suited.
- Registration forms for these classes are available in the high school Guidance and Counseling Office. A Dual Credit Shared Counselor is on the high school campus 2 days each week to assist students with this process.
- Students must take the THEA or COMPASS test or be eligible for a waiver or an exemption based on TAAS, TAKS, ACT, or SAT scores.
Students must register for college classes each semester and pay tuition and fees, buy books and supplies, and provide their own transportation to and from college classes if not taught at high school.
