Q: What criteria are used to determine membership?
A: Phi Theta Kappa membership is based on academic achievement. Students must be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program, must complete a minimum of 12 hours of coursework leading to an associate degree, must generally have a 3.5 grade point average, and must enjoy full rights of citizenship.
Q: What about students who attend college in the United States but who are not U.S. citizens?
A: International students are welcome to become members. They must meet the eligibility standards listed above, including full rights of citizenship in their country. |

Q: What is required to maintain membership?
A: After induction, members must maintain a GPA established by their campus chapter, generally 3.0.
Q: How do you become a member of Phi Theta Kappa?
A: The local chapter extends an invitation to students who meet the eligibility requirements. |
