REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS
Brazosport College makes every effort to accommodate the student with special needs. For information, contact the Special Populations Counselor at (979) 230-3236.

In addition to offering practical help with course material, the LAC's tutors provide a great deal of moral support to the student coming for assistance.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING
Counselors assist students in interpreting test scores and selecting courses designed to meet the students' goals. Students experiencing academic difficulties are assigned to counselors for additional consultation.  Phil Robertson, is available at Brazosport College to assist students with special needs and can be reached at (979) 230-3236

EQUIPMENT ADAPTED FOR SPECIAL NEEDS
Equipment and software are available at Brazosport College to assist students who have special needs. The LAC has two closed circuit camera systems to enlarge type, a computer programmed to read test files aloud to students and the college arranges interpreters and note takers for students when needed. Students with special needs are encouraged to visit with the Special Populations Counselor to become acquainted with the facilities and services available at Brazosport College.

TUTORING
Tutoring is available for all students who need assistance with their courses. One does not need to be referred or failing a course to take advantage of the on campus tutoring.  Math tutoring is offered on a drop in basis through the Learning Assistance Center (LAC). The LAC also provides study skills materials and presents seminars each semester. The college uses student tutors and the best part about the tutoring services is that it is FREE.

 FINANCIAL AID
The financial aid program at Brazosport College attempts to provide financial assistance to students who, without such assistance, would not be able to pursue higher education. Financial assistance is offered in many forms including grants, textbooks stipends, scholarships, loans, and both on-and-off campus employment or a combination of these aids. Students who need financial aid to attend Brazosport College should contact the financial aid office at (979) 230-3294.

DEVELOPMENT COURSES
Brazosport College offers developmental courses in English and mathematics. These courses are designed to provide the student with basic skills in English and mathematics prior to enrolling in college level course work. Degree seeking students must take the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA), formally the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) test prior to enrollment in college to determine if developmental courses are needed. Students may take the local placement test (COMPASS), as an alternate to the THEA test, to determine if developmental courses are needed, too. Contact a Brazosport counselor for additional information about developmental courses.
