Nursing Program Information

Application Date: The application cycle for 2009 will begin January 15th 2009 and end April 1, 2009. All application materials will be due no later than April 15th at noon. No exceptions will be made. Applications may be picked up in the Health Professions office or in the counseling area and will be available online throughout the cycle.

LVN Program – The Licensed Vocational Nursing program is a one year certification program starting each August and ending the following July. Upon successful completion of the program and all requirements, students are eligible for the NCLEX-PN exam. Admission is a 2 step process. Students must submit an application to Brazosport College. After submitting all LVN application materials, applicants are selected for interview based on TEAS results. A select few are invited to join the program.

ADN Program – The Associate Degree in Nursing is a 2 year program. Upon successful completion of all college and program requirements, students receive an associate degree and are eligible for the NCLEX-RN exam. Program requirements and prerequisites are listed on the ADN web page and in the BC Catalogue. Catalogues are available through the Registrar and Counseling offices.

TEAS exam – The Test of Essential Academic Skills is offered several times throughout the application cycle. TEAS exam results indicate student readiness for nursing programs. Students must earn a score at or above the National Percentile Rank in order to be considered for either program. A score below this rank indicates the student is not ready for the program. Areas of improvement will be evident and shown on printed score results. A Score Explanation and Interpretation is also printed along with the score results. Nursing program faculty and staff are not permitted to comment on or review TEAS results with applicants.

TEAS study material is available in the Brazosport College Library and bookstore.
