Vocational Nursing

While Brazosport College is an open admissions institution, the Vocational Nursing Program requires separate admission and approval. Students are admitted to the program through a competitive selection process.

In order to be considered for admission to the program, students must submit to the Office of the Registrar:  an application for admission to Brazosport College, an application for admission to the Vocational Nursing program, and transcripts of previous college and high school work. The applications and transcripts need to be on file with the Registrar’s Office no later than April 15.

The Nurse Entrance Test (NET) must be taken within four months prior to the April 15 application deadline. The test components include basic math skills (fractions, decimals, division, multiplication, percent, and basic algebra), reading comprehension and speed.

A committee of Brazosport College faculty and staff select the students for the class from the completed application files. Usually about 30 percent of the applicants will be selected into the program.

The Vocational Nursing program at Brazosport College is approved by the State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners. The VN graduates have enjoyed a 100 percent board passing rate on the first attempt of the NCLEX-PN, the licensing exam, for 12 years – one of only a handful of schools in Texas.
