BC Scholarship Soirée to bring a taste of the French Quarter to Brazosport area

The French Quarter is coming to the Brazosport area in a one-day only extravaganza.

In one of its biggest events of the year, Brazosport College is hosting a New Orleans-themed Scholarship Soirée from 7 to 11 p.m. on May 20 at the brand new Dow Academic Center, located at the college entrance.

The soirée, which is in celebration of the Dow Academic Center’s grand opening, will feature a multitude of activities and events, as well as some of the area’s finest restaurants. The evening is being underwritten by Dow Chemical – Texas Operations, with all proceeds directly benefiting student scholarships through the Brazosport College Foundation.

The night’s musical entertainment will include the amazing talents of jazz vocalist Yvonne Washington, who will be performing with the Brazosport Jazz Orchestra. The magic of the French Quarter will also be experienced through street art, mimes, magic, dancing and more.

Another highlight of the event will be 15 fantastic silent auction items, which include vacations, hunting, fishing and crabbing trips, original art, jewelry, a sports package and much more. Also, don’t forget to buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a weekend for two in New Orleans. Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100.

The Scholarship Soirée will be catered by some of the very best local restaurants, including Café Annice, On the River/River Point Restaurant, Affairs to Remember, Talk About Good and Tommy’s. While exploring the French Quarter, don’t forget to enjoy a delicious New Orleans’ style beignet!

The soirée is open to the public and individual tickets will be sold at the door for $50.
