Brazosport Young Peoples Chorus to offer free acting workshop

The Brazosport Young Peoples Chorus is offering Actor Tools, a free workshop for current and prospective members, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18. The one-hour workshop will be held at the Clarion at Brazosport College by the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

Actor Tools covers the basic tools of the actor’s trade - observation, memorization, concentration, and imagination - are presented and explored in an entertaining manner. The students will participate in a variety of exercises, learning to apply actor’s tools to performing and everyday life.

The Brazosport Young Peoples Chorus is an auditioned choir made up of Brazosport area students, fourth-grade through eighth-grade, sponsored by the Brazosport College Department of Music’s Choral Activities. Director Charla Carey rehearses the choir on Thursdays, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the Clarion on the Brazosport College Campus.

This season the choir will join the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra for a Holiday concert in December and a musical revue featuring the songs from “The Sound of Music” in April. The choir will also invite guests for the Swingle Singers workshop.

Auditions for the choir will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, with a clinic/social the following Saturday morning, September 10.
