Law Enforcement Academy enrolling for 2012 spring semester peace officer certification course

The Brazosport College Law Enforcement Academy is recruiting for enrollment in the Spring 2012 Basic Peace Officer Certification courses.   

The Basic Peace Officer Certification courses begin in January, along with the regular spring semester, at Brazosport College. Registration begins November 14, 2011.

Applications must be completed and submitted to the college’s Law Enforcement Academy no later than January 10, 2012.

Successful applicants will participate in more than 600 hours of training in various subjects such as criminal law, firearms and arrest tactics, as well as emergency driving, traffic enforcement and criminal investigation.  

Applicants must undergo a recruiting process, including a criminal history check and psychological evaluation, drug screen, and physical exam. Upon successful completion of the training course, candidates will become eligible to sit for the state licensing exam.  

A passing score of 70 or above on the state licensing exam will make the candidate eligible for employment in the state of Texas as a police officer, deputy sheriff, constable and other law enforcement capacities.  

Orientation and classes for the day course begin January 16, 2012.
