COVID-19 Update, No Classes March 16-20

Thu Mar 12, 2020 at 06:30 PM

Staying committed to the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff and to do our part in minimizing the spread of COVID-19, we are taking the following actions at Brazosport College.

Classes (face-to-face and online), including lectures, seminars, discussions and/or presentations, will not be held next week (March 16 – 20). Beginning March 23, classes will be offered online or through alternative formats until further notice.

The campus is closed to students and the public during the week of March 16th. Students that are scheduled to take a test in the Assessment Center will be notified with rescheduled dates. During next week, Brazosport College administration and faculty will be working to determine what courses can be moved online and what courses can be moved to other alternative arrangements. The BC administration will also work closely with faculty and staff to finalize a plan for completing the rest of the semester with the least amount of disruption to a student’s course of study.

All faculty and staff at the director-level and above will return to work as scheduled beginning March 16, 2020. All other staff should communicate with their supervisor concerning their timeline for returning to work, either remotely or on campus. Brazosport College will remain open, and all offices and services will continue to operate until further notice.

On-campus events and programming funded and sponsored by Brazosport College are cancelled through April 30. If you have an on-campus event planned during this timeframe that cannot be rescheduled, please consult with your dean or vice president.

Facilities will be maintained using sanitization and hygiene protocols as recommended by authorities. The College is working with suppliers and will provide sanitizers as supplies allow.

At this time, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Brazosport College. We will keep you informed about any updates as they relate to your work and learning at Brazosport College. Given the dynamic nature of this situation, we ask that all employees and students monitor BC emails, text alerts, social media channels and webpage for the most up to date information. Meanwhile, we urge you to follow personal hygiene precautions and exercise social distancing measures as recommended by the CDC and local health authorities.
