Wed Apr 13, 2022

Brazosport College Theatre’s newest musical, “[title of show],” will open to the community on April 21. The production will have four showings — Thursday, April 21 through Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m., and a final performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 24.

The musical will be at Brazosport College’s Seidule Theatre and is under the direction of BC Director of Theatre Michael McIntosh.

Originally produced on Broadway in 2008, “[title of show]” is about Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, who hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is only three weeks away. In the span of 90 hilarious minutes, they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists.

The musical ‘s cast includes David E. Brandt, Mason Rod, Sierra Gosteli and Azia Miranda.

“[title of show]” will also feature the talents of guest musical director, Robert Lewis.

Lewis is a professional musician and music director from Houston. A former high school choir director, he recently completed a master’s degree in Musical Theatre Conducting at Shenandoah University. After graduating in 2021, Lewis worked with Stagedoor Manor, an elite theatre camp in New York, and Thin Air Theatre Company in Cripple Creek, Colo.

A few of his favorite experiences include directing “Little Shop of Horrors” with Woodgrove High School (Purcellville, Va.) and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” with The Players Theatre Company of Conroe. In addition to working as a music director, Lewis is a piano teacher and organist. He has taught at Magnolia West High School and Vivaldi Music Academy, as well as working privately.
