BC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter honored for continued excellence

Brazosport College’s Psi Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa was recently named among the world’s top chapters at the Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst convention in Aurora, Colo. Brazosport College’s Psi Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently attended the PTK Catalyst Conference in Aurora, Colo., and earned high recognition from its peers.

Among the event highlights, the BC Psi Psi Chapter was named a Distinguished Chapter, an honor that went to only 50 of the 1,300 chapters worldwide. This is the fourth consecutive year the BC chapter has earned this award.

The BC group was also one of 50 chapters to receive a Distinguished College Project award. Then, to top it off, Psi Psi was one of only 11 chapters to earn a Beta Alpha Continued Excellence award for a second consecutive year, which is a prestigious recognition for being a Distinguished Chapter for at least three years in a row.

Brazosport College Phi Theta Kappa representatives attending the convention included advisors Cassie Bruner and Alicia Hodge, and student officers Jennifer Zavala, Shyenne New, Mandie Boudreaux and Glydel Padilla.

Individually, Boudreaux was also named an International Distinguished Chapter Officer, a recognition that went to only 30 officers worldwide.

“We had an amazing team and I’m so proud of all of the things they accomplished this year,” Bruner said. “We are thankful to Brazosport College for allowing them to have this opportunity to learn and grow as leaders on campus. I look forward to seeing their continued success in the future.”

These awards came after the BC program made a strong showing last month at the PTK Regional Conference in Frisco. During the regional conference, BC was named a Top Texas Chapter, a five-star chapter and was recognized as a Continued Excellence Chapter, among other accolades
