BC Theater auditioning for upcoming parody of Peanuts characters

Brazosport College Theatre is seeking actors for its upcoming production of “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead.”

Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. on January 18 and 19, with possible callbacks on Jan. 20, at The Seidule Theatre on the Brazosport College campus.

“Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” is a quirky, unauthorized parody of the Peanuts characters inspired by Charles Schulz. When C.B.’s dog dies from rabies, he begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace.

Auditions are open to students and non-students and all actors should be able to play teenagers. All participants under the age of 18 will require parent/guardian permission. 

This play deals with violence, sexuality, eating disorders, drug use and has swear words. “Dog Sees God” contains scenes of mild intimacy and violence. All safety and professional rules of IDC and SAFD will be followed during rehearsals and performances. There will be no intimacy or violence at the auditions. 

Rehearsals will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday through Friday, Jan. 28 through March 2. Tech rehearsals could run later. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on March 3 to 6 at the Seidule Theatre on the Brazosport College campus.
