BC Theatre to hold auditions for ‘The Thanksgiving Play’ on Oct. 4-5

Mon Sep 27, 2021

Brazosport College Theatre is seeking actors for its upcoming production of “The Thanksgiving Play.”

Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 5 at The Seidule Theatre on the Brazosport College campus.

In this wickedly funny satire, good intentions collide with absurd assumptions as a troupe of teaching artists scramble to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.

Auditions are open to students and non-students. Actors may be required to enroll in DRAM 2389. College credit and scholarships are available for participants.

Roles include:

Logan: The high school drama teacher that’s always pushing the envelope in potentially inappropriate ways. She’s earnest about theater and proving herself.

Jaxton: He is a yoga practitioner and actor who is politically correct to a fault — a big one. He's a confident guy and everyone loves him, but his logical PC thinking takes weird turns.

Alicia: An L.A. actress without guile (or talent), and beyond the ability to cry on command. She has looks that would have been cast as ethnic in 1950’s movies, and her agent has arranged for her to have headshots as different ethnicities.

Caden: An academic, but awkward, elementary school history teacher with dramatic aspirations, but has no experience.

Rehearsals will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday through Friday, Oct. 18 through Nov. 17. Tech rehearsals could run later. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Nov. 18-20 at the outdoor Shakespeare in the Glen Theatre.

Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. An audition form can be found at
