Brazosport College’s Psi Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently brought home multiple awards from the Phi Theta Kappa 2022 Texas Regional Convention in Frisco.

Among the top honors awarded to the BC program was being named a Top Texas Chapter, which ranks them among the top 18 chapters in Texas. BC’s Psi Psi group also remained a 5-star chapter, which is the highest rating a PTK group can achieve.

Additionally, the BC group was recognized as a Continued Excellence Chapter, an honor that includes chapters that have earned Texas Top Chapter or Most Distinguished Chapter awards for three consecutive years.

This was the eighth consecutive year BC has earned accolades in the Top Texas Chapter category.

Individually, Mandie Boudreaux and Jennifer Zavala were inducted into the Hall of Honor for Chapter Officers, while advisors Cassie Bruner and Alicia Hodge each earned a Horizon Award for Advisors.

One of the reasons BC is regularly ranked among the state’s top chapters is the high-quality work achieved by its students. As a result, this was recognized at the conference, as well.

The BC group received an Award of Merit for College Project, as well as an Award of Merit for their Honors in Action Theme. The Honors in Action Project is an in-depth project that includes academic research, analysis, planning and collaboration, all based on a particular theme.

“I am thrilled for the members of our Psi Psi chapter,” said advisor Cassie Bruner. “They worked incredibly hard to complete their projects and it was such a wonderful experience for the students to be recognized multiple times at the regional convention. I am so proud of all they accomplished and am thankful for their dedication and enthusiasm to this organization.”
