BC’s Weeks of Welcome to provide fun, informative start to new semester

Brazosport College’s Office of Student Life is ensuring that students will have plenty of opportunities for student involvement as they return for classes this semester.

Through its 2021 Fall semester Weeks of Welcome activities, which runs from Aug. 30 through Sept. 9, BC’s Office of Student Life will greet students back to campus with fun activities and games, but also with plenty of information about the College’s organizations and other opportunities.

The two-week event kicks off on Monday, Aug. 30 with welcome bags for students in the College’s BC Central and Sadler lobbies, and will close on Thursday, Sept 9 with the kickoff of the 2021-22 Strive2Drive promotion, which will eventually result in a student winning a new Honda Civic at the conclusion of the Spring 2022 semester.  

This semester’s Weeks of Welcome will also include ACE it pancake and pizza events, a student involvement fair, a school supply giveaway, trivia and bingo contests, a drive-in movie viewing and a variety of department open houses, among other activities.

Listed below is a schedule for Brazosport College’s Weeks of Welcome: 

MONDAY, AUG. 30

Welcome Bags: 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m. in the BC Central Lobby and the Sadler Lobby — Say hello, grab a swag bag, and let us help guide you on your way through the first day of classes.

TUESDAY, AUG. 31

School Supply Giveaway: 9-11 a.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion — Stock up on some last-minute supplies to start the semester.

Trivia: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion — Bring a team or tackle some trivia on your own. Prizes awarded to first-, second- and third-place teams. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 1

The Swamp Re-Launch: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in The Swamp — The Swamp is welcoming students back for breaks between classes. Come check out the space, grab a few snacks and play some games.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 2

T-Shirt Swap: 12 p.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion — The first 200 students to bring a shirt from where they are coming from (a high school, other college, a job site) can trade it in for a Gator Blue BC shirt. 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 7

Student Involvement Fair: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion — Check out all the different organizations available on the BC campus or find out how to start your own.

Bingo: 3-4:30 p.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion — Free to play for all BC students. Several games will be played, while information about community resources will be provided between rounds. Prizes awarded to all winners.

ACE it Pizza: 5-6 p.m. at the MEGlobal Student Pavilion and Sadler Lobby — Stop by the Information Desk or the Sadler Lobby for a free slice of pizza.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 8

Department Open Houses: All day — Multiple areas around the College will open their doors so you can become familiar with their spaces. Stop by and meet the BC staff.

Organization Building Workshop: 3-5 p.m. in Room F-107 — Find out how you can start your own organization here at Brazosport College. 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 9

ACE it Pancake breakfast: 9-11:30 a.m. at the MEGlobal Student Pavilion and Sadler Lobby — Free pancakes with plenty of toppings. 

Strive2Drive Kickoff: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Hear the rules and learn how your involvement throughout the year can help you win a new Honda Civic car.
