The Brazosport College Board of Regents has approved the contract appointing Dr. Vincent Solis as Brazosport College President. Solis was named to the position during a regular meeting of the Brazosport College Board of Regents on November 15 after being announced as the sole finalist in October. 

Solis will take over for Dr. Millicent Valek, who is retiring in January 2022 after serving 26 years as President of Brazosport College. He will be the fifth president in Brazosport College’s 53-year history and will assume the office of Brazosport College President on Jan. 4, 2022.

“We are pleased to name Dr. Vincent Solis as Brazosport College’s new president,” said Carolyn Johnson, Chair of the Brazosport College Board of Regents. “Dr. Solis is an experienced leader, and he brings a wealth of knowledge into this position. We are looking forward to welcoming him into the role of president and working with him to continue the great legacy we have established here at Brazosport College.”

Solis is currently President of Western Nevada College in Carson City, NV. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Services at Laredo College in Laredo, TX. Dr. Solis earned a Doctor of Education in Bilingual Education; a Master of Science in Psychology; and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Texas A&M University – Kingsville in Kingsville, TX.
