Brazosport College celebrates Black History Month with kickoff event

Brazosport College began its celebration of Black History Month recently with a kickoff event that included food, games, dancing and fun.

Students, faculty and staff were treated to food from Talk About Good Restaurant & Catering, while playing oversized games of Jenga and Connect Four. In addition, music was supplied by DJ Larro.

The kickoff began a busy month at Brazosport College, which will celebrate Black Excellence by recognizing living legends and rising stars. Upcoming events include numerous educational and informative discussions about current and historical topics, art sessions, a documentary and other activities.

One of the highlight events will be a Black Excellence Celebration Luncheon on Feb. 17. The luncheon, which is open to the public, will be at 11:30 a.m. in Room D of the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College. The event will feature a discussion on Black Excellence and will recognize Brazoria County Black Living Legends.  

Seating for the luncheon is limited and tickets are required. Tickets can be obtained from the BC Office of Student Life (Room J.117 in Bonnen Central) or the Employee Development Center (Room A.200 in Bonnen Central). The public can register for this event at: choosebc.info/BHM-NetworkMixer.
