Brazosport College celebrates partnership with local school districts

Brazosport College recently hosted its annual Counselor-Administrator Dinner at the Dow Academic Center, with administrators from Angleton, Brazosport, Columbia-Brazoria and Sweeny independent school districts in attendance. The dinner celebrated the partnership between the local school districts and Brazosport College. 

Among the evening’s highlights was the recognition of three exceptional students, Mariel Cardenas, Joshua Hillman and Jacob Carr.

Cardenas and Hillman are high school seniors and will both earn associate degrees from Brazosport College a few weeks before they walk in their respective high school graduation ceremonies this May.

With an associate degree in hand, Cardenas, who is from Brazosport High School, plans to next attend the University of Texas. Hillman, who is set to graduate from Sweeny High School, is heading to Texas A&M University.

The event also recognized third-year Brazosport College Catalyst program student Jacob Carr, who is on track to receive an Associate of Applied Science in Chemical Technology-Process Operations only one year after graduating from Columbia High School in 2021.

The evening also included a presentation from Brazosport College President Dr. Vincent Solis, and ISD updates from Angleton ISD’s Phil Edwards, Brazosport ISD’s Danny Massey, Columbia-Brazoria ISD’s Steven Galloway and Sweeny ISD’s Terri Watkins.
