Brazosport College Foundation Gator Classic raises funds for students

Thirty-six teams recently participated in the Brazosport College Foundation’s Gator Classic presented by Freeport LNG. The golf tournament was held at The Wilderness golf course in Lake Jackson.  

Funds raised from the tournament, which is now in its 22nd year, go toward student scholarships at Brazosport College.  

The Honda of Lake Jackson team, which consisted of Rod Hall, Mike Shaw, Chris Gillman and Pat Goldwait, was the lowest gross scoring team, while the Freeport LNG No. 4 team (Mike Robertson, Roy Montelongo, Richard Ross and Misael Compean) finished with the first place net score, followed by the Raba Kistner Consultants, Inc. No. 2 team (Caylon Fletcher, Riley Payne, Scott Blank and Cliff Fletcher) with the second place net score.    

As the lowest gross team, the Honda of Lake Jackson team also earned induction into the Gator Classic’s Blue Jacket Winners Club.  

Also finishing with a team accolade was the Texas Book Company team (Jerry Martinez, Alex Crouse, Mark Ruiz and Henry Wright) with a Wildcard award.  

Golfers earning individual awards were: 

• Phyllis Saathoff — Longest drive, women 
• Dustin Montoya — Longest drive, men 
• Holly Gavenonis — Closest to the hole, women 
• Barry Russell — Closest to the hole, men
