The Brazosport College Department of Music will present a concert featuring the Brazosport College and Community Band on Sunday, March 6 at The Clarion at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson. The concert, which begins at 2:30 p.m., is free and the public is cordially invited.

Selections to be performed by the College and Community Band include:

Allegro Barbaro” — adapted from a piece by Bela Bartok for solo piano.

“Highway of Heroes” — this Robert Buckley piece was inspired by a stretch of highway that pays homage to fallen soldiers.

“Keep the Faith” — the world premiere of a march written by community band member George St. George.

“Scheherazade Selections” — themes from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s interpretation of the tales of the Arabian Nights.

“The Ringmaster” — a blazing galop by local composer and retired band director Jerry Crummel.

“El Gato Montés” — a concert march from the 1916 opera “The Wildcat.”

“A Maid in Bedlam” — arranged by Randall D. Standridge, this is a beautiful setting of this Scottish folk song.

“The Comic” — a clever original by David Bobrowitz, with quotes from various classic gems.

“Jitterbug!” — influenced by the swing music of the 1930s and 1940s and written by Robert Buckley as a tribute to Canada’s King of Swing, Dal Richards.
