The Clarion at Brazosport College is kicking off its 15th season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, with acclaimed country artist, Sawyer Brown.

The show, which is being sponsored by BASF Corporation, marks Sawyer Brown’s first-ever performance at the Clarion.

Winners of the music competition on the syndicated television program, “Star Search” in 1984, Sawyer Brown became a familiar name throughout the country music scene. By the end of 1985, they had scored three straight Top 10 hits, including their first No. 1 song, “Step That Step,” which stayed on the Billboard country charts for 21 weeks. The group also won the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award for new talent.

Today, the band has released more than 20 albums, which have included more than 50 hits — with three reaching No. 1 — that have appeared on the Hot Country Songs charts.

A few of Sawyer Brown’s many well-known tracks include “Some Girls Do,” “The Race is On,” “Step That Step,” “Thank God for You“ and “Six Days on the Road,” among others.

Tickets for the show are $50 for adults, $45 for seniors and $20 for students and children.

Sawyer Brown is the first show of a busy 2021-22 season for The Clarion at Brazosport College. Upcoming performances include José Feliciano on Nov. 5, Janet’s Planet on Nov. 9, T.S. Monk on Nov. 19, Tracy Byrd on Dec. 10, Paul Shaffer with the Brazosport Jazz Orchestra on Jan. 29, 2022, Darryl Worley on March 25, 2022 and Gina Chavez on April 8, 2022.
