Discovery Series to launch in online format beginning Sept. 21

Tue Sep 15, 2020

The Brazosport College Library and Office of Student Life are teaming up once again to bring a series of interesting and informational events to BC students.

The BC Discovery Series will engage the College community in various educational topics with faculty members. The series presents knowledge on different subjects, encouraging participants to explore something new.

For the Fall 2020 semester, presentations will be held virtually through Zoom. All presentations are scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The ID for the meetings is 991 7258 2550 and the passcode is DISCOVERY.

Three BC Discovery Series events are planned for the Fall semester, beginning with a presentation by BC Social Sciences instructor Hollis Knode on Monday, Sept. 21. During her presentation, titled “German POWs in Brazoria County During WWII,” Knode will share prisoners-of-war stories within our community.

The series continues on Thursday, Oct. 27, as BC Associate Professor of English Joy Kennedy-O’Neill speaks on the “Evolution of the Zombie as a social metaphor.”

Finally, on Monday, Nov. 16, BC Mechanical Construction & Technologies Division Chair Ricardo Uribe will wrap up this Fall’s series with his presentation titled, “Millennials in the Workplace: In the time of COVID-19.”

The events will also feature door prizes for students and BC employees. Students attending all three sessions will be entered into a drawing for an iPad Mini.
