Iconic guitarist José Feliciano to appear at the Clarion on Nov. 5
The Clarion at Brazosport College is pleased to welcome one of the world’s most influential Latin guitarists, José Feliciano, for a concert on Nov. 5.
The show, which is being sponsored by STP Nuclear Operating System, and Rod & Luz Hall, begins at 7:30 p.m.
Feliciano is recognized as one of the first Latin artists to effectively cross over into the English music market, opening the doors for other artists who now play an important role in the American music industry.
Feliciano’s accomplishments are highly celebrated. He’s been awarded more than 45 Gold and Platinum records and has earned 19 Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, winning nine of them. He’s been hailed by critics as “the greatest living guitarist,” as well as “the Picasso of his Realm.” Feliciano’s musical career has also been immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Feliciano became a household name when he recorded a cover version of The Doors’ “Light My Fire,” which won him a 1968 Grammy Award for his performance, the same year he won the Grammy for Best New Artist of the Year. His career has taken him all over the world and the musical map, including one of the most popular Christmas songs ever written, “Feliz Navidad.”
Tickets for the show are $50 for adults, $45 for seniors and $20 for students and children.
Feliciano is the second show in a busy 2021-22 season for The Clarion at Brazosport College. Other upcoming performances include Janet’s Planet on Nov. 9, T.S. Monk on Nov. 19, Tracy Byrd on Dec. 10, Paul Shaffer with the Brazosport Jazz Orchestra on Jan. 29, 2022, Darryl Worley on March 25, 2022 and Gina Chavez on April 8, 2022.
