The curtain is about to rise on the Brazosport College Drama Department’s first performance of the 2020 Fall semester.

For its initial production, the BC Drama Department is performing a new play, “Rogues’ Gallery,” and is offering it free to the public through a live-streamed performance. This will be the first time one of the College’s drama performances has been offered as a live-streamed event.

It will also be the first play from new BC Director of Drama Michael McIntosh.

Both showings of “Rogues’ Gallery” will be available online, with the first performance Thursday, Nov. 12, followed by a final production one day later on Friday, Nov. 13. The showtime for both performances is 7:30 p.m.

While the play is being offered for no cost, tickets are required and can be purchased through a link at

“This is a fantastic opportunity for both our students and community members,” McIntosh said. “Performing a piece of theater both live and online creates a brand new skill set for all involved. I think the future of commercial theater involves both in-person and streaming performances, so this is good set of skills to have.

“Plus, it’s a fantastic piece of theater,” he added. “It’s funny, sad, spooky, and exciting. We have five fantastic actors playing 10 eccentric characters.”

“Rogues’ Gallery” is a not-yet-published collection of monologues from the imagination of Pulitzer Prize-winning author John Patrick Shanley (“Doubt,” “Prodigal Son,” “Moonstruck”) that delves into the allure of bad behavior and the absurdity of being human. It features 10 magnetic characters and 10 bizarre, explosive and darkly humorous stories.

Cast members include Josh Bilecki, Xavier Hampton, Mia Mintz, Cassi Shields and Tomás Whitmarsh.

“Rogues’ Gallery” is intended for mature audiences and will be performed in front of a small, invitation-only audience at the College’s outdoor Shakespeare in the Glen Theatre.
