The Brazosport College Library and Office of Student Life are teaming up once again to bring a series of interesting and informational events to BC students throughout the fall semester.

The BC Discovery Series will engage the College community in various educational topics with faculty members. The series presents knowledge on different subjects, encouraging participants to explore something new.

The presentations are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the BC Library. Lunch is provided for attendees.

Three BC Discovery Series events are planned for the fall semester, beginning with a presentation and discussion with BC Social Sciences Instructor David Sysma titled “How the United States Lost the Space Race” on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The series continues on Oct. 8, as BC Life Sciences Division Chair Dr. Isaiah Schauer speaks on “Understanding Gene Therapy & CRISPR,” followed by Social Sciences Instructor Carrie Pritchett’s presentation on “Presidential Libraries” on Nov. 12.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer our students opportunities to learn outside of the classroom,” said Director of Library Services Cassie Bruner. “These informal presentations are a great way to gain some insight and knowledge on topics that these faculty members are very passionate about.

“And the best part? There’s no pop quiz,” she added.
