The Clarion at Brazosport College’s popular Summer Matinee Series continues on Wednesday, June 27 with a performance of “Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters” by the Ensemble Theatre.

The Summer Series is a series of performances aimed at children, running at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday through August 8, except July 4. This year’s series is sponsored by STP Nuclear Operating Company.

“Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters” is the story of Mufaro and his two beautiful daughters, Nyasha and Manyara.

Nyasha is kind and considerate, while Manyara is selfish, bad-tempered and spoiled. However, Mufaro doesn’t see this about Manyara. Then, when the king takes on a wife and must choose between the two, Manyara sets out to make certain she is chosen. The two beautiful girls react in different ways to the king’s search and a surprise ending occurs.

The Ensemble Theatre, based out of Houston, reaches more than 30,000 youth and seniors annually through its educationally themed performances.

Showtime for “Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters” is at 1:30 p.m. and tickets are $5.

Other scheduled shows in this year’s Summer Series include Mad Science on July 11, magician Lanny Kibbey on July 18, Tom’s Fun Band on July 25, Carranza Puppets on August 1 and Vincent Nunes on August 8.
